Though laws will prove to differ from state to state and country to country, one particular aspect of laws that tend to be fairly standard is child abuse laws. Child abuse is the mistreatment of children, whether it is in a sexual, physical, or emotional way. There are various types of actions that can constitute child abuse.
In the United States, child abuse can be categorized as neglect, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, and physical abuse. Child abuse laws will usually have severe penalties for an individual engaging in such actions, for child abuse is considered to be a crime in the United States. However, there may be some variation as to what constitutes child abuse, thus there may be some variation in child abuse laws from state to state.
An example could be the issue of sexual intercourse with a minor. States have different ages of consent to engage in sexual activity, and therefore, sex with a minor can be considered different in one state than another.
